Our Halloween Horse Show was a huge success on Saturday October 24th! We partied it up with 400 supporters who dressed to impress. Costumes, candy, and spooky fun was the theme for the show. The Grand Opening celebration of our new Sand and Spurs Equestrian Program in beautiful Pompano Beach was attended by supporters from all over Broward County: Pompano Fire Department, Broward Sheriff's Office Mounted Patrol, Councilmembers from Pompano Beach, Girl Scouts, students from Florida International University , students from Nova University, local high schools, and many more party-goers and helpers! Special children and adults dressed their best in costume in order to impress the judges and win ribbons and trophies while showing off their riding skills. Our horses were decked out in feathers, paint, hats, and clothes in order to disguise themselves for the spooky show. Food, fun, games, hay rides, and a half-time extravanganza put on by residents of Sand and Spurs delighted the crowd. The horse costume parade was spooktacular and the fun didn't stop while we all were amazed by the jumping exhibition, barrel racing, and standard bred and cart display.

What a fantastic day it was at the Parkland Equestrian Center!
With more than 25 accomplished special needs riders competing, everyone was at the top of their game. Some truly inspirational skills were demonstrated by all competitors! Each rider fought to overcome their personal challenges and excel at their horsemanship. Riders competed in classes for blue ribbons in categories such as " Best Equitation", "Best Posting Trot", "Most Imporved Overall Skills", etc.
At halftime, we were treated to a drill team exhibition starring program participant, Tracy Anzalone, and four dedicated volunteers. There was not a dry eye in the park as the team put on a beautiful riding display that exemplified friendship, partnership, syncrony, compassion, and hope.
